Installing the Chrome Extension
- Open the Google Chrome web browser.
Open the Extensions window. You can do this by selecting from the menu bar. You can also manually type in "chrome://chrome/extensions/" in the address bar as shown below:

- When the Chrome Extensions window is open, you can simply drag and drop the fileinfo.crx file onto the window.
- Click "Add" when prompted, "Add File Extension Search?"
NOTE: For security reasons, double-clicking the .CRX file will not install the Chrome extension. Instead, you must follow the steps above and make sure the Extensions window is open when you drag the extension to the browser window.
Using the Chrome Extension
Once you add the extension, a green icon with the letter "i" in the middle will appear in the upper-right corner in the toolbar. Simply click the icon to activate the extension. Type a file extension into the search box to look up the file extension at FileInfo.com.System Requirements
