Photoshop documents support RGB, CMYK, grayscale, monochrome, duotone, indexed color, Lab color, and multichannel color modes; the color mode can be changed within the Image->Mode submenu.

NOTE: PSD files can be opened and edited using GIMP - the GNU Image Manipulation Program; however, not all features of the PSD format are supported.
