.AS File Extension

Source code written in ActionScript, a scripting language originally developed by Macromedia but now developed by Adobe Systems; may contain variables, functions, and references to other files; typically used for creating interactive Flash applications.

ActionScript files are often saved along with the Flash movie (.FLA file) that references the AS file. ActionScript files can be edited within Flash or with a basic text editor.

File created in the AppleSingle format, an archiving format used by older Macintosh systems that have the A/UX operating system; saves both the resource fork and the data fork in a single file; now considered an obsolete file format.
