.CPGZ File Extension

Compressed archive saved in the .CPIO (Copy In, Copy Out) archive format and compressed with gzip (.GZ) compression; used primarily on Unix systems and in Mac OS X.

CPGZ files can be created and extracted using "ditto," a BSD command line program for Unix and Mac OS X. For example, the command "ditto -cz" creates a compressed CPIO archive.
