.DSYM File Extension

Debugging information file generated by Apple's Xcode development software; produced during the debugging process if the Debug Information Format is set to "DWARF with dSYM;" saved in a package format that can be opened by right-clicking the file and selecting "Show Package Contents."

DWARF stands for "Debugging with Attributed Record Formats." It is used by Xcode to generate debug symbols, which can be stripped from the final executable before distribution.

DSYM files have a ".dSYM" extension.
