.FX File Extension

Effects file created for Direct3D, a part of Microsoft DirectX used to render three-dimensional graphics; contains plain text effects properties structured into three sections: variables, functions, and techniques.

FX files are used to specify textures, lighting parameters, shading, rendering properties, and other effects. Direct3D technology is only used for Windows programs.
