.SCA File Extension

Data file created by Norton AntiVirus, a program that protects desktop computers from malware; contains a list of files on the hard drive that have been scanned or need to be scanned; used by Norton AntiVirus to tell which files need to be scanned next.

SCA files are typically located in the Tasks directory of a Norton AntiVirus installation. They are commonly seen with the filename mycomp.sca.

NOTE: Symantec introduced the ".sca" extension with Norton AntiVirus 2002.

Script written with Scala, a digital signage management program; includes instructions that determine how and when digital images are displayed; used for controlling electronic billboards, dynamic digital signs, DOOH (Digital-Out-of-Home) advertising, employee TV, electronic posters, and other types of digital signs.

Scala scripts are written in the ScalaScript language, which uses a proprietary syntax. Since SCA files are saved in a plain text format, they can be opened and edited with a basic text editor.
