.XLT File Extension

Template created by Microsoft Excel, a spreadsheet application; contains default formatting and data for a spreadsheet; used as a basis for creating new .XLS files; may be provided with the Excel software or may be a custom template created by the user.

Beginning with Microsoft Office 2007 for Windows and 2008 for Mac, Excel templates use the Open XML format and are stored as .XLTX files.
