Overview

ACDsee Photo Manager is a digital photo management and editing program. It is used to organize and touch-up photos taken by digital cameras. The program provides search capabilities to locate photos using keywords, thumbnails, custom categories, or other image metadata. The software can also help fix common shooting problems, such as red eye and poor exposure, and includes several digital effects for enhancing photos. ACDsee Photo Manager supports over one hundred image formats, including many RAW image file types generated by digital cameras.

User Interface

Photo Manager provides a Windows Explorer-like interface for managing photos and includes panels for organizing, previewing, and searching images. Users can customize the layout of the workspace by positioning the panels wherever they want on the screen. The interface also has an Edit mode, which displays a tool panel and an image canvas for editing photos.

Capabilities

The Edit mode enables users to touch-up images and add effects to photos. It includes tools for fixing common digital photo problems, such as blemishes, red eye, and shadows. It also provides effects that enhance photos and add finishing touches to images. For example, users can apply a stained glass effect, add text, and add custom borders and drop shadows to images. The program always keeps a backup copy of the original image so users can revert back to the unedited version.

Photo Manager works directly with digital cameras and backup media, such as external hard drives. The software can import photos from a digital camera and automatically tag them with metadata. It also provides a tool that synchronizes photos on the computer’s primary hard drive with an external backup drive. Users can also backup images by burning them to CDs or DVDs.
