Overview

CyberLink PowerProducer software box

PowerProducer is a software program used for creating video and slideshow discs. It can capture video from DV and HDV camcorders and TV tuner cards. It can also import video from several different digital video file formats. PowerProducer provides authoring tools for adding interactive menus, music, and themes to movies. It also includes several video enhancement features that can improve the video and sound quality of existing media. Completed movies can be burned to DVD, Blu-ray, and other disc formats.

User Interface

The PowerProducer user interface provides navigation buttons for editing and producing discs. When creating a movie, users must first select the video format type (VCD, DVD, Blu-ray Disc, or AVCHD), as well as the disc capacity and aspect ratio. Next, users import video content and photos into the movie project. Videos can be split, merged, and converted to different aspect ratios. Digital photos may be rotated, sequenced, and timed. Background music may also be added. After finalizing the disc content, users can add disc menus and burn the movie to a disc or save a disc image on the hard drive.

Capabilities

PowerProducer includes a "Magic Movie Wizard," which automatically touches up digital video content. It fixes shaky video, poor lighting, and red eye issues. The wizard can also be used to apply user-selected themes and add pan and zoom effects to photos.

PowerProducer can also edit existing movies that are saved to rewritable discs. Its built-in disc utilities can erase, copy, export to a disc image, or finalize discs for video player compatibility. PowerProducer can also save disc files in the proprietary .RDF format, which can be reopened for later editing.

The "Right-to-Disc" feature supports burning videos directly to a disc without first storing them on the hard drive. This allows users to capture real-time videos from a camcorder or other video input source and burn them directly to a disc. These videos can be saved as standalone movies or included as part of a larger movie production.

User Community

PowerProducer is a software solution designed for users of DV and HDV camcorders. It is primarily used in home environments for capturing, editing, and producing personal movies. PowerProducer may also be used for watching movies and slideshows on home entertainment systems and for sharing videos with friends and family.
