.CAS File Extension

License file used by Autodesk products such as AutoCAD and Revit; contains information that validates a purchased software copy; used in a "cascading" license setup, where a network installation of the software can be used by multiple networked computers.

CAS files use the filename CascadeInfo.cas. These files can potentially become corrupt if the computer unexpectedly crashes, denying access to the software. If this occurs, consult the Autodesk support to resolve the issue.

By default, the CascadeInfo.cas file is located in the following directory:

• Windows Vista/7: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ADLM\
• Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\ADLM\
• Mac OS X: /Library/Application Support/Autodesk/Adlm/.config/

3D model file used by some games in the Total War strategy game series; contains models for buildings, units, and other game objects; saved with .TGA and .DDS images that are used for texturing the models.

CAS files can be imported and exported with the 3ds Max modeling software using the Vercengetorix CAS Importer/Exporter script.
