.DSC File Extension

Contains information about photos taken with a Nikon digital camera (such as a CoolPix camera); saved on the memory card along with the image files; typically only a few kilobytes in size since it does not contain any image data.

DSC files may be hidden on the card since they are referenced by Nikon's digital camera software and not meant to be opened manually.

NOTE: Many digital cameras save photos with filenames beginning with "DSC," but these image files typically have a .JPG extension.

Data file used by Celestia, a free application used for simulating 3D visualizations of the universe; saves information about deep space entities, such as nebulas and galaxies; provides location and drawing information to the program.

Plain text file used by various software applications to store description information; may describe an associated software application like a readme file; may also contain data parameters or other types of plain text information.
