What is an FH8 file?
An FH8 file is a drawing created with version 8 of Adobe FreeHand, a vector-based illustration program Adobe no longer develops. It contains vector objects, stroke and fill settings, color information, text elements, layers, and layout details. Designers used FH8 files to create illustrations, page layouts, logos, and web graphics.
More Information
The FH8 format saves structured project data in a proprietary binary format. The file stores vector graphics, meaning it saves drawings as mathematical paths composed of points, lines, curves, and shapes rather than pixels, allowing artwork to scale to different sizes without losing clarity.
NOTE: Graphic designers and print professionals commonly used FreeHand 8 during the late 1990s for both print production and early web design work. Macromedia initially developed FreeHand, and Adobe later acquired it.
How to open an FH8 file
You can open FH8 files with Adobe FreeHand 8 or later. However, FreeHand has been discontinued, and Adobe no longer supports it.
