System file used by ReadyBoot, a Windows technology that optimizes the boot process, enabling faster system load times; saves a trace of accessed files on the system that Windows uses as a boot plan for the next time the system is started.

More Information

ReadyBoot FX files are created and updated in the background after a system restart. They record accessed files from the last few system boots. This historical information allows Windows to calculate a caching plan for the next restart that helps increase system boot performance.

You can find FX files (e.g., Trace1.fx, Trace2.fx, etc.) in the following directory:

C:\Windows\ReadyBoost\Prefetch\Readyboot\
