What is an HR file?

An HR file is a raster graphic created for use on a Tandy TRS-80 computer. It contains an image that is exactly 640 pixels wide by 240 pixels tall. Some modern image viewers can still open HR files.

More Information

Tandy produced TRS-80 computers from 1977 to 1981. To allow their computer to display HR images, TRS-80 users needed to install the Grafyx expansion card or another suitable hardware upgrade.

NOTE: HR stands for "high-resolution."

How to open an HR file

You can open an HR file with XnViewMP (multiplatform), RECOIL (multiplatform), or Logipole Konvertor (Windows).

How to convert an HR file

You can use Logipole Konvertor (Windows) or XnViewMP (multiplatform) to convert HR files to other image formats. For example, XnViewMP can convert HR files to the following formats (and many others):
