.IST File Extension

Project template created by InstallShield, a program used to create Windows Installer (.MSI) and InstallScript-based installation packages; contains a reusable template, including default settings, code, and design elements; may include directory structures, custom scripts, default images, and text.

IST files provide pre-formatted templates on which to base installation projects. Development teams may create and distribute one or more templates to standardize installations among multiple projects.

NOTE: IST files are created using InstallShield's Premiere and Professional editions.

File created by Inspiration, an educational diagramming program; contains a template for a conceptual "mind map," which is a flowchart used for planning, researching, and completing projects.

Inspiration templates are used for creating multiple .ISF files from the same staring point.
