Data file used by BNF (British National Formulary) software, a platform used to deliver electronic publications; stores a "formulary," which is a electronic publication; sometimes found on standalone reading CDs, which enable users to read books and journals on medical, drug, and clinical information.

The BNF technology originated at Cambridge University within a group named Clinical & Biomedical Computing Ltd. It has been transferred to commercial businesses such as MedicinesComplete, who released the publication, Martindale: The Complete Drug Reference.

NOTE: The BNF software has been deployed on Web servers, intranets, and as standalone applications, which are sometimes bundled in CD versions.
