What is an XTB file?

An XTB file is a localized data file used by Angular, an IDE used to develop mobile and desktop applications. It contains text in key-value pair format that includes strings of text from the app and their translations to one or more different languages.

More Information

XTB files may be created from localization projects by POEditor, an online software localization program. To create an XTB file, select the Export button on the app localization language page. POEditor exports data that has been localized in the XTB file, which can be imported into Angular.

An XTB file may also be a game resource file used by some games in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It contains binary data used to show in-game text, such as dialogue. Sonic Generations and Sonic Unleashed both use XTB files.

More Information

XTB files contain multiple versions of a character's in-game dialogue, localized and formatted using XML. This XML text is then transformed into a binary XTB file for use in the final version of a Sonic game.

How to open an XTB file

XTB files are not meant to be opened by players.
