.SED File Extension

File created by IExpress Wizard, a built-in Windows program used for creating Windows installers; contains options used for building a software installation package (.EXE file); includes the files to build into the package, the output package filename, popup messages for the installation process, and various other options.

SED files are used by the IExpress Wizard to build self-extracting executables. They are often used for creating software distributions.

The IExpress program (iexpress.exe) is located in the C:\Windows\System32\ directory.

Script used by sed (streams editor), a Unix command line utility used for filtering and modifying text; stores one or more statements, which contain pattern matches and replacements; used for storing reusable sed statements.

SED files are used with the following syntax, where -f is the option for specifying a sed script: sed -f file.sed inputfile
