What is a WIZ file?

Wizard file used by Microsoft programs, such as Microsoft Word; contains macros, templates, and user interface elements; used to guide users through a series of steps in completing a complex or repetitive task; can be created as an add-in for Microsoft programs.

More Information

WIZ files may be created in Microsoft Word by opening a new document template, creating new macros, saving the template as a .DOT file, and then changing the ".dot" extension to ".wiz." Built-in WIZ files may be modified by editing the macro code.

NOTE: Some wizard built-in macros are protected through encryption and cannot be modified.
