What is an EXD file?

Stores cached information about a control that has been inserted into an Microsoft Office document; allows additional controls to be added in less time; in Microsoft Office 2000, the EXD files are stored in the following folders:

  • Excel8.0
  • Ppt9.0
  • Word8.0
  • Vbe
EXD files are created when a user inserts an ActiveX control into a document using the Control Toolbox in a Microsoft Office program. They are also created when any type of control is inserted into a custom UserForm in the Microsoft Visual Basic Editor.
